The Tivoli Theater is located on Avenida da Liberdade, in the heart of Lisbon, and was founded almost a century ago. Since then, in different ways, it has contributed in great manners to the cultural scene of the city.
The Tivoli Theater is located on Avenida da Liberdade, in the heart of Lisbon, and was founded almost a century ago. Since then, in different ways, it has contributed in great manners to the cultural scene of the city.
Opened in 1924, it served as the chic “hotspot” for the city’s elite. From the beginning, several national and international theater companies, as well as ballet companies and orchestras, have adopted the space for their performances.
In 2005 Tivoli Theatre was acquired by a private buyer, who then sold it to UAU, a show promoter, in 2011. The company intended to keep the space active, producing more and better events, shows, conferences, television galas, concerts, commercials and any other performance that fitted its multi-faceted essence.
In 2012, following an agreement between a Spanish bank and the producer that previously acquired the space, it was renamed Teatro Tivoli BBVA. A century old cultural reference started a new cycle, which asked for a new branding.
The new visual identity of the Tivoli Theater aims to revitalize its image. The connection between what it represented in the 20’s with the cultural scene which it fosters nowadays was key to producing a more stylised and simplified brand.
The dome, resting above the main entrance, is one of the most charismatic elements of the building’s structure. An architectural marvel that became the inspiration for the redesign.
By taking into account its historical value and privileged location, the new brand projects the cosmopolitan spirits that housed remarkable performances over the last century. Through it, a timeless feeling was created.
